
Three WA cities are finalists in a United Nations-backed competition to find the most liveable community in the world. Mandurah, Joondalup and Geraldton beat hundreds of cities from more than 50 countries to be named finalists in their respective population categories of the Livcom Awards.
The Livcom Awards, are endorsed by the United Nations Environment Program, and are focused on international best practice regarding the management of the local environment. Only one other Australian city made the finals. The winners will be announced in October. Meanwhile, Perth has again made it into the top 10 list of the world's most liveable cities, ranking eighth for the second consecutive time. The list is compiled by the Economic Intelligence Unit which surveys 140 locations around the world.
