Whale World celebrates 30 years
Albany's Whale World celebrated its 30th anniversary in January.
The popular Albany tourist attraction first opened in 1980 and has now grown into a unique part of the many things to see and do in the town.
“Whale World is very popular with tourists,” according to Mr Alan Scicluna, Manager of Metro Inn Albany. “At least 80 per cent of all first time visitors to Albany who stay in our Motel will make a visit to Whale World and come back raving about it,” he said.
There is over 25 exhibits on offer at Whale World, including Australia's last whalechaser, the Cheynes IV; three whale oil storage tanks which have been transformed into movie theatres and multimedia exhibits, and a very popular theatre tank which shows the world's first 3D whale movie. “One of it’s biggest advantages is that appeals to people of all ages and has something for everyone to see and do,” said Mr Scicluna.
